We thought they were set back significantly 6 months before this war, when their nuclear development sites were blown up. How do you know the two armies succeeded any better than that this time?

Meanwhile, Pres Trump is declaring victory because Iran is willing to set the clock back to where we were told we were when the war started. And reopening shipping that they only closed during and because of the war.

It seems very unlikely that six weeks of intense bombing would do nothing. While we may have been misled regarding how much the bombing achieved, I think it's reasonable to assume that it did something significant. And all commentators that I follow have said the same, even if they are not supporters of this particular government.

Ultimately, Trump is going to respond to the U.S. electorate whose interests differ from Israel's. The war is not popular among American voters and putting U.S. soldiers at risk would not go over well. Thus, Trump's options are limited and the Iranian regime knows this.

Due to changes in the U.S. electoral makeup, Israel's real problems will arise as its relationship with the U.S. comes to resemble its relationships with the European nations. Hopefully, Israel is reshaping its defense policies in a way that anticipate that problem.
