I challenge the people who defend UTJ's resistance to fingerprint scanners to explain why such scanners are a problem, instead of telling me that since the yeshivot don't currently have them then obviously they're not necessary. I hear you: this is an innovation. Tell me why it's a problematic innovation.

When I was in Kollel (Tzemach Tzedek, in Jerusalem's Old City), we had a time clock, and we used to punch in when starting the day and punch out when finishing the day. The Kollel would penalize lateness by reducing the monthly stipend, and you couldn't make up the time by staying later.
